The owner and his son were genuinely kind and helpful, and the room and bathroom were beautiful and newly renovated. The shared kitchen has cutlery but no plates, plus a coffee machine with pods, a kettle with tea bags, a washing machine, and a small table. Each room has its own shelf in the fridge and cupboard, with its own cups. Breakfast is included at a café 100 meters from the hotel, and the pastries there are delicious. The B&B is on the second floor, with an elevator, about a five-minute walk from the port. It’s on a one-way street leading to a busy road. Parking can be awkward, so ask the host about the special arrangement he has with a lot about ten minutes away. The purple room faces the street. Its new window frames still don’t block enough noise, and from 7:30 in the morning the traffic and construction make it hard to leave the windows open. In the evening, open windows can spare you from using the air conditioning. I know open showers are fashionable, but water pools in the bathroom every time, so I’d rather have a door.

Riccardo was warm and welcoming, and suggested a few sights and a couple of restaurants. The house and rooms were brand new, and the location worked well for us, away from the city-center crowds but still not far away. My one significant complaint is breakfast. I expect a B&B to serve it in the apartment, with sweet and savory choices. Instead, we got a voucher for a nearby café, so we had to get ready and go out just for coffee and a croissant, with few other options.

We found the breakfast too restricted, just one coffee and one pastry. On vacation, I’d like to pick what I want, as I have at other places we’ve stayed. The owner was welcoming, our room was neat and clean, and the location made it easy to explore the city.
