The pitch was nicely shaded, and the location beside a beautiful beach was great. The showers and toilets were clean and spacious, though I was a bit concerned when a cleaner used a special key to open the door while I was showering. The regular sound of gunshots also takes some getting used to. The restaurant was a letdown. Our salami pizza had only three pieces of salami and tasted very average. Paying for everything with the white card was a pain.

The only good thing was that we’d booked just two nights. That was enough. We went to the restaurant too, and the pizza came out burnt. We sent it back, and the replacement was nearly raw. The place had a miserable feel, and it seemed like a lot of staff didn’t want to be there. I can’t say whether that was down to working conditions or lack of training, but guests felt the result. Getting a bottle of water turned into a drawn-out argument. You can’t pay with your own card or cash; everything has to go on their white card, and topping it up is cash only. At the on-site supermarket, they wouldn’t take a debit card or let us add money to the balance by card. We were told to travel to the nearest ATM, 15 minutes by car or a two-hour round trip by bus. There was no offer of help or sympathy, just rude responses and shrugs. After nearly an hour, they finally let us pay by card at reception, which could have been done from the start. There was also an extra €40 charge for just 24 hours of air conditioning, essential in July’s sweltering heat, and that cost wasn’t made clear upfront. Staff were shockingly unprofessional and spoke to us as if we were a nuisance. When I asked for a manager, I was told there were no managers in Alghero and no one in charge to speak to. I’ve never had a more frustrating or disappointing travel experience. If you want to relax or even get basic courtesy, book somewhere else. I wouldn’t recommend this place for comfort either.

After staying one night in a tent with my friend, I felt sick the next day and went to pay two hours after checkout, at noon instead of 10 a.m. I explained that I was leaving right then, but they insisted their checkout rule had to be followed and charged me for a second night anyway. For one night in a tent for two, I ended up paying €125. I offered to pay something extra, but they refused and made me pay the full amount for two nights. They insulted my friend and said they’d call the police. Honestly, that might have shown how ridiculous the situation was. They treated us like we were poor just because we didn’t think paying for a whole second night made sense when we were leaving. I’ve never had such a bad experience. This is a horrible campsite, and it felt like the people working there only cared about money. I’m ashamed of how customers are treated. I’ll never come back. They should be ashamed.

I don’t understand the hype, or why this camping place has four stars. Both bathrooms I tried had no hot water for a shower. They were very dirty despite being “cleaned” once a day, full of mosquitoes, and I counted seven in one bathroom. There was no toilet paper or bin either. What are we paying for? At the bar and market you have to pay with a card loaded with cash, since they won’t take money directly. But there’s no ATM on site, so you have to drive 15 km to the nearest village to get cash. You also need a swimming cap for the pool, and one costs €6. I was really disappointed by the whole experience.
