The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and nicely furnished. Hotel San Nicola is right in the center of Altamura, making it easy to get around and see the city. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and professional. I had a great stay.

We had to leave the car outside the historic area and carry our bags along the cobbled streets. There’s a lot of construction in the historic center right now, with loud noise and closed streets, so bear that in mind when planning a trip. The hotel is four stars, cozy, and elegant. Mr. Mario was especially kind and intelligent, and helped us a lot when we needed to change rooms. He really touched us.

The hotel is a charming, quiet renovated Palazzo, with beautifully hand-painted ceilings. Our room was large and clean, with an in-room safe and mini fridge. Staff were friendly, efficient, and professional. When a town festival blocked the road we were using to get in, one staff member kindly drove our car through town to the hotel. Parking is available in front. Altamura is welcoming and authentic, and a handy base for visiting Mater and Gravina as well as Altamura itself. The town comes alive after 7 pm, so take a stroll along the main promenade. The location is excellent, only a 2-3 minute walk from the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption.
