The hotel is in decline, and the central location isn't as fabulous as it's made out to be because of the street noise. The staff were no help at all. There's no elevator from the street to the first floor, and when I asked for help with my 83-year-old dad, I just got a flat no. At breakfast, food was running out while two servers and the receptionist seemed more interested in gossiping than replenishing it. The beds were uncomfortable too: instead of a twin bed, there were two singles pushed together with hard mattresses. I know it's a cheaper option in Amalfi, but even at that price I don't think it's worth it.

We spent a week here, and our room was clean and comfortable. There was some noise from the seafront at night, but keeping the windows closed and using the air conditioning made it manageable. The hotel is well located near lots of restaurants and the ferry terminal, and breakfast was good. The staff were pleasant and helpful. On our first day we struggled with our cases on the stairs, and one of them came out to help.

I appreciated the hotel's older, vintage charm, and the Mediterranean Sea view was magnificent. The staff were amazing, and I had all the amenities I needed for a comfortable stay.

The room was clean and nice, though a better duvet would have helped. You could hear someone flushing a toilet right by the bed. The staff were a bit rude and could improve their hospitality.

We were very comfortable here. Hotel Fontana has big rooms and amazing bathrooms, and its location is the best part, right in the heart of the Amalfi. Breakfast is American-style, with a variety of simple and bakery items. Highly recommend.
