Il Vicoletto

Il Vicoletto is a little gem tucked just behind the main street in Amalfi, with only three rooms. It’s central, so everything is just a few minutes away, and Andrea was delightful, kind, and helpful. The rooms were spotless and the beds comfortable. Walking up the 94 stairs to this secluded B&B gives you a sense of the rich history of Amalfi and Italy. The old steps tell a story of hard work from hundreds of years ago. I admit I was skeptical after reading some of the unreasonable negative comments on Google, but having stayed here, I can only think those opinions come from a lack of travel experience. In a town over 1,000 years old, you should expect something different from a cardboard motel like some tourists are used to at home. If you want an easy-access, streamlined suburban motel chain along the German autostrada, you won’t like this place, or the rest of Europe for that matter. Il Vicoletto is a wonderful base for experiencing Amalfi and Italy’s old culture. We’ll definitely return to this beautiful place! ❤️🇮🇹

The three rooms look out over a neighborhood courtyard where the local cats play, with an incredible view of the mountain behind town. The shower has lots of room and plenty of hot water, and the beds gave good support for my weak back. They’re not the fashionable memory foam kind that doesn’t support you. Andrea was always helpful and pleasant to talk to. His property is a great find away from the usual tourist path, about 100 stairs above the heart of town.

It takes some patience to find the place, but it’s worth it for the amazing view over the cliff and the very central location. Serena was so lovely and helpful!

The Wi-Fi was good.
