We had booked the hotel for September 26, 2025. That day, aggressive protests broke out across Italy, shutting down all transport, including buses, trains and ports. Naples airport, where we were due to arrive, was completely closed, so getting from Naples to Amalfi was impossible. As soon as we heard what was happening, we contacted the hotel and Booking to ask if we could move our stay. We were even willing to pay extra. They refused without offering any alternative. Both the hotel and Booking acknowledged this was an extraordinary situation, but neither a cancellation nor a date change was allowed. Booking's own policy says guests are entitled to a refund or date change in force majeure circumstances, but that policy was simply ignored in our case. We felt the hotel showed no regard for its guests. There was no support or understanding, just indifference, even when help was most needed. This was deeply disappointing and showed us a very poor level of service. We spent a long time choosing this hotel and planning our vacation, and expected at least some flexibility or respect from the property. Instead, we were met with disregard. The experience left a very unpleasant impression, and our trip was completely ruined by the lack of basic customer care.

The room is spacious, with hot water in the shower and all the kitchen appliances needed to make a meal or a drink. Staff are attentive and provide good service. It's only a few minutes from the port and beach, though getting there involves a bit of a climb because of the terrain. Still, it's worth it.

We spent every evening on the terrace. It was comfortable, quiet despite being near the main square, and caught a nice breeze. The owner was friendly and very helpful, getting in touch in advance with tips on reaching the apartment and getting around. The apartment is just outside the main plaza, a five-minute walk from the ferry and beach, and five minutes from the nearest supermarket. We didn't cook, but it looked like there was everything needed for cooking and morning coffee or tea. The building is very old, though the bathroom has been renovated and has good water pressure and temperature. The AC worked properly, and the mattress was comfortable, on the firmer side. The apartment isn't accessible: it's on the fourth floor, so you have to use the stairs. The owner warns you about the stairs more than once. In our apartment, the bed was comfortable enough, but it wasn't a queen. It was two single beds pushed together, leaving a gap between the mattresses, so it's not ideal for couples who sleep cuddled up. Although it's advertised for three adults, I wouldn't recommend it for that. Two adults or two adults and a child would be better, because there's no privacy between the bedroom area and the couch. Street noise was well blocked, except for the church bell, but we could hear neighbors in other apartments in the morning, I guess because the building is old.

Daniela was a great host, with incredible customer service in every way. We appreciated the sea-view room, the coffee pods, a working fridge and plates, plus a great shower and comfy bed. It's about a five-minute walk from the port when you arrive, and just two minutes from loads of restaurants. There are lots of stairs, but they're spread out and didn't hurt. We'd definitely stay here again.

The climb up is a bit of a stair workout, but the view from the top makes it worth every step. The host was friendly, accommodating and just a gem. And the terrace felt like a little bit of heaven, with the view, birdsong and church chimes. I could have stayed out there forever. The room had charming Italian style, from the chandelier to the cozy bed headboard, and they got the details right. It was sparkling clean, with plenty of coffee pods, lots of tea and a cute little kitchenette. This place is the real deal!
