Residenza Luce

Vincenzo made everything easy, even arranging to have our rental car taken away for secure parking and brought back whenever we needed it. He was always around with advice, suggestions, and answers, and made us feel very welcome. We loved the rooms and the location. Having a delicious breakfast on the rooftop was a great way to start the day. It’s a real pleasure staying at this family run place, and we’ll definitely return.

The hotel sits right in the main piazza, with shops, cafes, and restaurants just outside, and it’s very close to the ferry we took from Positano. Da Gemma is directly across from the entrance, and Trattoria San Giuseppe is just around the corner. Both served great food, though Da Gemma felt more upscale and San Giuseppe was very casual. Vincent was so kind. He helped with our bags, checked us in, and showed us to a comfortable room with a sitting area, a balcony overlooking the square, and a bed in the loft upstairs. He also suggested where to eat, got us bus tickets to Ravello, and booked a car to Salerno train station for our trip to Rome. He even walked us out to meet the driver. Breakfast was available daily, with lots of choices, and was delicious. We’d highly recommend Residenza Luce and would stay again if we return to Amalfi.

We ended our Italy trip here, and couldn’t have asked for a better last stop. The hotel is right in the heart of the city, and we even saw a special event from our room that we hadn’t known about. The room was beautiful, and we wanted to leave the balcony doors open and stay in. The bed was comfortable enough for a good night’s sleep, breakfast set us up for a day exploring Amalfi, and the place felt like home in a way that the top hotels I’ve stayed at didn’t. It’s quiet inside, and the soundproofing works well. The A/C was great too when we needed it. There’s a reason so many reviews give it five stars.

Vincenzo and the staff were so friendly and helpful, even with towels and bus directions. Breakfast is a real highlight, served upstairs on the rooftop with fresh juice, coffee, meats, cheeses, salad, breads, cakes, and pastries. The hotel is just above the church, right where things are happening, but our room was quiet. It had a balcony, a loft, a huge bathroom, and beautiful tile.
