Villa Rina

Rina was a wonderful host, cook, and guide, and our stay was worth every euro, even after carrying our bags up all those ancient stairs. My wife and I couldn’t have been happier. Let Rina make you breakfast and dinner at least once, or every day if you like. You won’t be disappointed.

Rina was an absolute delight, and we loved our large room, especially the balcony view and private garden. The villa’s setting is incredible, with views unlike any we’d seen before. If you get the chance to eat there, take it: the multi-course meal was delicious and a real Amalfi experience for all five senses. Say hello to Tor (good dog) and Enrico (good cat). There are lots of steps to reach the villa, but if you’re in decent shape, it’s worth it.

The terrace view is breathtaking, and Rina puts so much heart into making guests feel cared for. That attention is one reason I prefer a B&B to a hotel. We ate dinner and breakfast at Villa Rina every day, and the food was delicious, especially the lemon pasta with cream sauce. Just be ready for a lot of steps leading up to the villa. They make a great workout, at least, so I didn’t feel guilty eating so much.

We stayed four nights and left very disappointed. Rina seemed nice, but I rely on reviews when booking, so I want to be honest. Dinner cost 40 euros per person. The first meal tasted good, though the portions were very small. On our last night, we stayed in because we had an early departure, but my husband got swordfish while I was served a ball of mozzarella for dinner. When I complained, Rina said I didn’t eat fish and had meat the other day. Breakfast was stale, rock-hard bread and croissants, homemade jam, and ricotta, so plan to eat elsewhere. The bus information was wrong too. Rina told us it ran at 10:30am, so we arrived at 10:20 and waited an hour in 90-degree weather. Hotel Santa Caterina told us the times were 10:15, 11:00, and 11:30. It’s hard to catch a bus from there because they’re often full. The staff at Hotel Santa Caterina kindly gave us a free shuttle to the main square so we could get a bus. I won’t stay with Rina again.
