Residence PAX

A good, relaxing place.

The beach is within walking distance, and there’s a grocery store downstairs. The apartments are clean and mid-range, though the kitchen has only the basics. Staff at reception don’t speak many languages, and you can hear the bells through the speakers in the accommodation.

We found the stay very pleasant, and the quiet area lives up to the Residence's name. It’s just a five-minute walk to the beach, along a picturesque route beside the Magra River. A parking space reserved for guests was a big help, since finding a spot nearby without it would have been difficult. The room was spotless when we arrived and had useful amenities: a well-equipped kitchen, roomy refrigerator, washing machine, TV, and air conditioning. The owner quickly brought us a frying pan when we asked for one. The AC runs on a timer and only comes on at certain times, but the temperature in the room stayed pleasant. The bed and pillow were the one real letdown, as neither was very comfortable. There’s a small market right below the Residence for quick shopping, and a little church across the street where mass is held. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

This was our second visit, and we’d happily come a third time. The location is ideal, with the river and sea just a few minutes away on foot. Sarzana, the nearest larger town, has places like Lidl. We were welcomed warmly, and the little shop in the building is handy. The rooms are clean and have everything we need, except for sharp knives for cooking.
