Orange Hotel

Nighttime noise was the worst part. We could hear every street sound and passing car, as if the old windows offered no sound insulation. The AC seemed ancient, worked very poorly, and was extremely loud. The bathroom also had lots of dirty, moldy grout, and there was no soap or shampoo in the dispensers when we arrived. Service was poor, and the hotel was dirty and nothing like its advertising. For the price, it doesn’t measure up. It should be much closer to two stars than three, even though it’s listed online as a four-star hotel. I wouldn’t recommend it. Save your money and stay elsewhere.

The roof bar and terrace were closed, despite being one of the reasons we chose the hotel. There was no sign of the renovation work mentioned in other reviews. The room was dated, with rust on the tub, a bent shower-head holder that was too low anyway, and stained, grimy fabric walls. The hotel’s quality was very poor, though the staff were friendly and it was well located for getting to Vatican City. It definitely doesn’t deserve a four-star rating, which also matters because city tax is based on the star rating. The AC worked, and that’s the only reason I gave the room one star. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

The location is fantastic, with the Metro nearby, the Vatican an easy walk away, and lots of restaurants and cafes around. The room was basic but clean, and the hotel itself was nice. Saturday night got a bit noisy because of music, though it wasn’t too bad. We didn’t get to use the spa, which we’d hoped to try. The body wash situation was annoying: they had little packets, but they were only shampoo. I’d still happily stay again.

Even in a great location, I wouldn’t stay here again. I was awake all night and didn’t get a single hour of sleep. The rooms are tiny and outdated, the bed was uncomfortable and squeaked a lot, and there was just one pillow and no duvet. The bathroom was so small you couldn’t use it comfortably, and it smelled bad. Every AC unit in the hotel makes noise when switched on.
