Appartamento La Follicara

We booked this apartment for four days in Capri, with the plan that our adult son would stay with us for only two nights. There were two of us friends, and the listing description and photos showed a double bedroom and sofa bed, suggesting another person could sleep there. The website said an adult would pay the same rate as an adult. But the booking system only let us enter two people, so it directed us to contact the host about availability. We booked for two, then checked with the host a week before departure to make sure our son could join us for those two nights. His age hadn't been asked. We were told it was fine and that we'd just pay an unspecified extra amount on arrival. We reached the apartment around 8 PM. The owner, who lives upstairs, saw our son and asked, “Who is this big guy?” Soon after, a woman arrived, probably his wife, and brusquely repeated that our son couldn't sleep in the apartment because he was not a minor. We explained that we'd been told by phone we could have an extra bed. They said if he couldn't find somewhere else to stay, we'd all have to leave. It was already 9 PM. Then the insults and threats started, especially aimed at our son, with comments like “How old are you? Don't you remember?” and “This is our house, if you don't leave, we'll call the police. This isn't like Naples, where everything's a scam. And don't you dare give us a bad review on Booking!” After half an hour or more of insults and provocation, they offered what they called a generous concession: the three of us could stay one night, if we signed a rental agreement saying the accommodation was for only two people, something we'd never encountered with Booking.com, and another document making us responsible for having a third person there. The owners left. We were acting in good faith and didn't want to accept an agreement that felt completely unfair, so we immediately found our son a place at a nearby residence for the two nights and left just the two of us in the apartment. The owners' uncivilized behavior and abuse left us shocked and disgusted, and caused us financial loss. Only the breathtaking beauty of the island helped us get past their rudeness. Highly discouraged.
