Albergo Gino

I was only in Ancora for a train stop and stayed for 10 hours. The place is open 24/7, and the lady kindly understood I needed a shorter stay and helped me out a lot. She suggested places to walk at night and where to stay safe while exploring. They also kept my bags after checkout so I could look around a little more. Great service and location. The room is basic, but for a 2-star hotel it's good. The towel felt strange, though it did the job.

For train passengers the location works well, and the historic center is walkable from the hotel. At 2am, a taxi from Ancona airport cost 40€, which seemed fair. The reception is open 24/7, and coffee lovers will appreciate the proper espresso machine. It's about what you'd expect from a two-star hotel: polite reception service, a clean room, and a free, very basic snack-style breakfast. Breakfast was mostly cereals, croissants, and other sweet wheat treats. The toilet seat was practically broken, and the shower leaked onto the bathroom floor. Still, those things seem fairly normal in cheap hotels in southern Europe.

It's well placed for the train station, with the airport bus stopping nearby, and the city center about a 10-15 minute walk away. Breakfast was fine and started early, which worked well for departures. There's also a decent, very cheap restaurant next door that I'd recommend. The rooms look worn and a bit dishevelled, but they're comfortable enough for a night or two, especially at this price.

The staff were rude, and the service was the worst I've experienced. I'd only stay here in an emergency.
