Villaggio Turistico Camping Cervino

We arrived at 2:30 as the website instructed, but had to wait until 3:00 for the barrier to open. Our pitch wasn't the hardstanding one we'd paid for, and our van got stuck. Staff didn't know how to get it out. After I gave them instructions, we managed to move it onto a tarmac pitch. Once we were set up, we had to move again so the van behind us could leave. The staff didn't apologize. We'll never return.

Basic accommodation in a nice, quiet location, with a good restaurant. Very good value for money. Loved it.

We were very impressed at first. There are chalets, permanent pitches and spaces for campers and tents. Reception staff were friendly and explained the site in English, which was helpful. The location is great for trekking, with the Chamois cable car nearby and other lifts and walks farther up the valley toward Cervinia. It is also a popular ski area. Entry is secure through a locked barrier, with a card for vehicles. The barrier closes at 11:30pm and from 1pm to 3pm, so vehicles can't come or go then, and opens at 7am. The toilet and shower block has private cubicles with sinks, and soap, paper towels and toilet paper were supplied, unlike at some other Aosta region campsites we've visited. The women's area had a lit makeup mirror and hair dryer. There's a bar, restaurant and shop on site, plus a common room with seating, tables, lots of plug sockets, vending machines and a microwave, though it was very hot in there. Kids have a small play park, chickens and rabbits, and a playroom with games. A lot of things let the site down during our six-day visit. Hot water was unreliable, sometimes absent all day, which made showers unpleasant after pressing the button and expecting five minutes of hot water. The women's toilets smelled of sewage throughout. Cleaning there was poor: bins weren't emptied regularly, and excrement stayed on one cubicle floor for at least three days. The bar and shop weren't often open as advertised, the shop had limited stock, and there was no shop in the local village. Staff used a noisy ride-on mower at 8:45am, even though the grass was only about 5mm long and didn't need cutting. There were no washing machines or dryers, despite the information provided saying they were included.

This campsite is lovely and well worth the price. The facilities are clean, regularly serviced, and have everything you'd expect. The staff are helpful and friendly. It may fill up in high season, so it's a good idea to reserve before you arrive.
