The Matscher made for a wonderful stay for my wife and me. We started each day with a filling, tasty breakfast in the sunroom, with a gorgeous view of the Alps. The owners and staff were warm and easy to talk to, and their dinner suggestions led us to two great meals. One was a seasonal specialty we might otherwise have missed. The hotel is well placed for exploring the valley around Bolzano. We took a tour of several castles and went to nearby Kalterer Lake, and there were plenty of other outdoor activities around. For good weather, there's a balcony and a neatly kept garden, with hiking easy to reach. When the weather turned, we made use of the sauna, pool, and underground garage. Our room also had a kitchenette that would be handy for a longer visit. A lot of care has gone into making this a great place for a holiday, and we hope to come back in summer.

We stayed four nights in April with our children, aged 3 and 6, and had a great time. Our first-floor apartment looked out over the garden and mountains. Silke and the staff were very friendly and ready to help with our questions. The pool and small outdoor playground were perfect for us and the kids. We hope we can return soon.

The spa was a real treat, especially the pool and sauna looking out across the valley. The view is breathtaking by day and at night, and the landscaped garden is beautifully kept. Everything in our suite felt clean and modern, and breakfast was delicious, served buffet-style in a relaxed setting. My partner and I had a wonderful first trip to South Tyrol. We also appreciated the free evening shuttle to selected restaurants, which runs three times a week. It helped us discover three new places, though there are plenty more nearby. There's a lovely lake close by for sunny evenings with a maritime feel, and hiking is another option, so there was lots of variety for activities.

We'd happily come back. The hosts were welcoming, friendly, and attentive, which made the stay even nicer. The pool was the standout for us: heated, with broad glass walls and a full panorama of the vineyards and South Tyrolean mountains. It was a dream on cooler days. After a swim, the beautifully cared-for garden was a lovely place to sunbathe and unwind.
