The old town has a wonderfully cosy feel, almost like stepping back 600 years. We were there with one other couple, and both couples seemed to be the only visitors from outside Italy, so it felt far from the usual tourist scene. The hotel itself was amazing. Getting to the rooms means dealing with stairs, though, so it may not suit anyone who struggles with narrow stairways.

The room was filthy. I found a long black hair on my shoulder after using the provided towel, then saw more hair under the bedsheet and beside the bedside table. It was disgusting, and nearly made me throw up. The room was also hot and humid with no air conditioning, and there was no Wi-Fi or mobile reception. The bathtub was so high that my husband struggled to get into it, and after the difficult journey and all the steep stairs, we were already exhausted and sweating. The rooms are spread around town, the breakfast room is elsewhere, and even our room had another staircase before the bedroom. We were charged €2 per bag for luggage service, though we had assumed the room was in the same building and planned to carry our bags ourselves. The roads were extremely narrow and the hotel was hard to find. When we called after seeing it on booking.com, we were told guests booking through that site get the ugliest room. My husband and I wanted a short, pleasant break after all the Covid chaos, but this was a nightmare. I don't recommend the hotel. The owner seemed greedy and dishonest.

The village and setting are lovely, but the welcome felt unenthusiastic and made me question why the staff chose tourism. They charged us €10 to keep our bikes in a garage, which felt completely unnecessary and played into the stereotypes about Liguria. I won't be back.

Our gourmet package included a meal at ristorante da Baci, and it was wonderful, especially the zabaglione dessert. The room was amazing and met all our requests. Rooms and breakfast are spread around the village, which is part of the experience. Federica served breakfast and was warm and friendly. It felt like they really wanted to make our stay special. We had a great time in this beautiful village and would highly recommend it. Thanks, and see you next time when the SPA is ready! Ciao Cas and Giulia

We spent three magical days in this lovely place, like being part of a living fairy tale. Only open-minded travellers can really appreciate the charm of this little village. Try the local specialities, which are also sold in the tiny shop in the centre, then enjoy the quiet of the main square and watch the stars. Ordinary tourists, please stay home. This place deserves better.
