The owner was friendly, open, and quick to sort out problems, and gave us useful tips about the neighborhood. The place was cleaned often and well. There’s a water dispenser with hot water for tea, but breakfast isn’t offered. Every room has a sink and faucet, and some also have a shower, though bathrooms are shared. My main issue was the internet: it worked fine in the corridor, but not properly in my room. A convenient place to sleep.

The location is unique, and the landlord was kind and gentlemanly. He even helped me carry my heavy bag when I was leaving. The place was clean, and there’s a coffee machine with nice coffee for 0.5 Euro, less than outside. Given the price, it felt like a good deal, even without air conditioning. I was there during a heat wave, when it was 40 degrees around the world. I think I’d stay again.
I was quoted $400 including taxes on bookings.com for four nights in May 2022, then my card was charged $700 with no explanation. Prices shown were always around $90-100 per night, whether I checked May, June, July, or August, so I don’t see how $400 became $700. The owner acts very friendly, then pretends not to understand the problem. I never got an explanation or a refund. Avoid this place.
The view was phenomenal, the location is excellent, and the rooms and lobby look fancy. Our beds were a good size, and there’s a feature-packed fan, though no air conditioning. The TV also turned itself on randomly once. We booked a double room with a shared bathroom, then got upgraded to a private shower with a nicer view. It cost extra to use, and I’d mistakenly thought it meant a private bathroom. That would have been nice, but at this price I can’t expect too much. The street-facing rooms can be loud, so ask for one that doesn’t face the street. That upstairs shower was something else. The bathroom is large and pretty, with a pastel pink theme, and the toilet bowl sits above your head when you’re seated. The shower looks fancy, with a wooden fixture, an aimable handle, four water spouts, good pressure, and hot water. Temperature control is so-so, but the scalding water was there if you wanted it. The problem is there’s no threshold, just a curtain and glass pane. The shower head aims at the opposite wall and can’t point down, so water runs onto the bathroom floor. There’s no drain in the bathroom, only one under the shower head. By the time I finished, the floor had about a centimeter of water on it. You step out into a bath. It seems unsafe and pretty dumb. I can’t tell you why it’s built that way, but I doubt the room dries by morning. It gets too humid, leaving a damp, swampy bathroom and a puddle upstairs. A recipe for a swamp, if you ask me. Eventually big green men will tell you to get out.
The place is clean and safe, with a lot of history in its walls. Andrea and the staff, including Gary the dog, were so accommodating and polite. Andrea is an amazing host, and the location is close to ALL tourist attractions. Take some time to talk with Andrea about how his grandmother bought a destroyed post WWII theather and rebuilt it into offices, then a hotel. It’s been a family business for three generations, and I hear the fourth is in training. Great value and an Italian home feeling. Highly recommended.
