Hotel Baia Azzurra

The lake is only steps away and the view from the hotel is incredible. I can’t say much else in its favor. I was on the top floor in a room with a private jacuzzi, but the sloping roof made it hard to move around without hitting my head. The bed was barely raised off the floor, and although there was a desk, there wasn’t room for a chair. The shower was right by the entrance and had nowhere to hang a towel. Air conditioning was mediocre at best. Restaurants are at least a 15-20 minute walk away, and instead of staff helping with bookings or plans, there’s a lobby computer suggesting ChatGPT.

The family room felt more like a double, and the rooms are on the small side. After a long day cycling, the shower’s only lukewarm water was uncomfortable. The beds were comfortable, though, and the bathroom was clean and modern. Breakfast was very good. The location is lovely, with direct access to the public beach and the bike path. Staff were quite polite, especially at reception, and the woman making omelettes at breakfast was very nice.

The room we had on the first floor at the southeast side of the hotel was the main problem. It opened onto the emergency exit, which staff sometimes used, so it didn’t feel private and we kept the blinds shut most of the time. Odd, given that it was the more expensive room. Otherwise, the rooms were in good shape, well serviced, and had modern amenities. The lake view rooms have lovely balconies for relaxing, and the location is convenient for water activities. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast had a great selection, and the restaurant and beachfront bar were stylish places to unwind.

I booked through agoda for a week later by mistake. While I was already driving to the hotel, I stopped to ask if I could cancel and check in that day. They said they couldn’t see my booking, but two days later agoda replied that they wouldn’t refund me, even though the hotel was empty because it was out of season. The woman at reception spoke only basic English, and the staff didn’t seem kind or sincere. The whole place felt like bad energy. I wouldn’t spend a night there, and hope they change the owner, staff, and hotel policies. If anyone wants a free night there since it’s already paid for 8-9.3.25, write me.
