Bed and Breakfast La Casa Di Elide

A week before we were due to arrive, we had to cancel because of an alleged family problem, a complaint I’d already seen in other reviews. He said he’d spoken to a woman on the phone, but he hadn’t. She would call twice and then hang up. He was almost crying on the phone. Find another career and stop making fun of people who may actually have the problem!

No seriousness or professionalism at all! They contacted us to cancel our reservation a week before we were due to leave, right in the middle of the Christmas period. Most likely they wanted to give our place to someone who’d asked for a longer stay. No comment.

A few days before our stay, they canceled the reservation and gave reasons that sounded made up. Afterward, we read other reviews and saw this seems to happen often around Christmas. This had never happened to us before.

The location is genuinely useful, both for sightseeing and for the hospital, which is why I picked this B&B back in 2013. I came back in 2024 and was much more disappointed than I had been in March. The place seemed neglected and badly maintained. The kitchen didn't make me want to prepare even a cup of tea. In the room, the en suite bathroom had no bidet, and the substitute shower setup was questionable. There was a striking lampshade by the bed, but after a couple of nights I started getting allergies. Looking closer, it was covered in dust like cotton wool. The old 1950s armchair had broken springs and couldn't be used, and the TV never worked for me, perhaps because it had no antenna or connection. I spent whole evenings alone in silence, looking at the ceiling. My husband had recently had kidney surgery and couldn't comfortably use a bathroom without a bidet. With all that dust next to the bed, we also couldn't risk a severe sneezing spell, so we left. I don't understand why a business bringing in good income hasn't been renovated and refreshed. It also needs someone, even a housekeeper, who cares about running a place where guests are welcomed. People visit Arezzo for tourism and may spend some money, but they need a convenient place for travel or essentials that's clean, maintained, and welcoming. I'm saying this as constructive criticism because the B&B has great potential. The condominium should fix the step down at the entrance. It was like that when I first came in 2013, and in 2024 it was still there, even worse.
