The pool was a real highlight, good size, comfortable temperature in August, plenty of loungers and chairs, and toilets nearby. It’s a very short drive from Borgo San Valentino, though the steep roads make walking there in the August heat unrealistic. We stayed in the superior two-bedroom flat, and the balcony was easily its best feature. The views were breathtaking, and we made good use of the little table and two comfortable deckchairs. The flat is beautiful, almost like being on a film set, though getting to it means climbing lots of steep stairs. August was extremely hot. We picked the flat because it listed air conditioning, but it was a portable unit that needed a large vent hanging out the window. That meant choosing between using it with the window open and letting in plenty of mosquitoes. It wasn’t very effective anyway, and the flat stayed hot, especially at night. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast each morning was generous and tasty, with cakes, pastries, fruit, scrambled eggs and bacon.

Sleeping in a real medieval town was one of the most special parts of our stay. The stone lanes, old houses, church bells and starry night sky made it feel completely different from anywhere else. We’re from Nebraska in the United States, and my family and I loved our time at San Valentino Residence. Giuseppe welcomed us warmly from the start and made us feel at home. Breakfast was delicious, with fresh croissants, fruit and coffee, and we enjoyed it on the terrace looking out over the green hills each morning. It’s also a peaceful, welcoming place with a lot of simple charm. They host weddings here, and I told Giuseppe that if I get married someday, I’d love to do it there. We’ll always remember this experience.

A beautiful place to stay on the Via Di Francesco. If you can manage to eat here, the food is great too!

The views are incredible, and the people were very nice. They spoke quite quickly, though, which was sometimes hard for my non-native ears to follow. The place feels like a tiny medieval city, with each apartment tucked into its own little nook. We also ate at the Osteria at the bottom of the hill, and the food was good. Breakfast was brought to our room, which was a bit disappointing since we couldn’t have cappuccinos in the morning. Still, it was a lovely stay.
