Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru

The grounds are beautifully landscaped, and the rooms are spacious. In the off-season, though, my room had a noticeable damp smell, which was disappointing. Breakfast was standard, fine to start the day but nothing special. I’d avoid the restaurant because it’s overpriced and the food quality doesn’t match what it costs. For a peaceful stay with lovely surroundings, it’s a solid choice if you skip eating there.

We had the tasting menu with wine pairing, and each thoughtfully composed dish went beautifully with its wine. Bartender Aldo made some of the best cocktails we’ve ever had, too. With its serene setting, Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru has a magical feel and makes for a memorable meal. The staff were warm and professional, and took care of every detail. We wholeheartedly recommend it and are already looking forward to returning.

Our villa had visible mold behind the bathroom sink, and the toilet wouldn’t flush properly. We were also disappointed by the restaurant experience throughout our stay. The hotel sits in a beautiful, peaceful mountain location, but the remoteness seemed to be used to justify inflated prices. A simple toast with half an avocado and a few eggs was €25, a “steak” for €45 was only two small strips of meat, and a single portion of fries cost €10. We counted just 32 fries, about the equivalent of one potato. Even water was €8 for 0.5L in the restaurant, despite the same bottle costing €3 in the minibar. Apart from one complimentary 0.5L bottle per person at check-in, there was no free water during the stay. With no other food options nearby, the prices felt deliberately excessive. One evening we were asked whether we had a reservation for the hotel’s only restaurant. As guests, that seemed absurd. The nearest village was several kilometers away, and we had no transportation, so where were we meant to eat? I also felt the chef was dishonest and unprofessional. I recognized that the lamb liver I’d ordered hadn’t been served, but he insisted it was the same dish. I was absolutely certain it wasn’t liver. When I asked him to show me the liver in the kitchen, he refused, which confirmed to me that he had lied.

A stay at Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru is always a good decision. Matteo and his restaurant team are kind and professional, and the menu is varied and high level. Martina at reception is friendly and always ready to help. The bartender is a virtuoso, thanks for those fresh, powerful drinks. Thanks for a wonderful time, see you soon!
