Chiusure is such a picturesque little town, with narrow streets, cats, and locals sitting outside their doors in the evening. I only wish we’d had more time there. The drive from Sienna was peaceful, with incredible views of the Tuscan hills, and felt like a destination in itself. The staff were wonderfully friendly and service-minded. One morning, we were the only ones at breakfast, and they made sure we had a great meal. Our room/apartment was spotless, and the bed may have been the most comfortable one I’ve had while traveling through Italia. It rained, so we didn’t swim, but the pool looked straight out of a movie.

We kept finding reasons to stay longer in Chiusure, from the warm local encounters to the feeling of being wrapped up in Tuscan life. Borgo Santo made it easy to relax: we enjoyed cocktails at Il Bar Di Borgo Santo, mornings with the locals over coffee, and the villa-style pool with its peaceful views. The hosts were delightful, and the residence felt thoughtfully designed, comfortable, and elegant. The food nearby was a highlight. We had lunch at Osteria Il Pozzo and dinner at Locanda Paradiso, with homemade dishes like butter and sage ravioli and zucchini flowers, plus local wines. The local herbal Amaro was a lovely way to end the evening. Getting there meant winding through narrow village streets, but that only added to the charm. Chiusure has just 120 residents and sits by the UNESCO World Heritage site of Val d'Orcia National Park. From here, Borgo Santo lies between Buonconvento and Asciano in the Crete Senese, known for its distinctive clay and limestone formations dating back more than 2.5 million years. The landscape really is spectacular. Borgo Santo is a collection of boutique luxury residences with incredible views. It’s a special, intimate place to experience Tuscany, and we’d love to return.

We didn’t want to leave Borgo Santo. The rooms were clean, beautiful, comfortable, and well equipped, and we could have spent all day looking out at the spectacular countryside from our window. The pool was just as peaceful and lovely. Everyone on staff was helpful and wonderful. Chiusure felt like a small town we belonged to, with the comforts of a hotel and none of the tourist crowds. We fell for the place and its views. It’s now one of my favorite hotel stays, and one of our best in Italy. Getting there takes some effort, but with a car, the drives to nearby towns are a dream, and there are lots of places to explore.

We stayed in Casa Eleonora, one of the apartments with a view, and loved the spacious rooms and the recent renovation. It’s a charming village and a useful base for exploring the region. The staff were super friendly and accommodating, and there’s a nice bar that serves some breakfast, plus a good restaurant nearby. We’d absolutely stay again.

Chiusure is enchanting, and the views from Franca are just amazing. The service was excellent, the cleaning immaculate, and the rooms beautifully decorated. Each apartment has been newly built behind the old town walls, blending a polished, almost New York style inside with Italy outside. The hotel seems to own most of this wholesome little town, but real families live among it too, which makes the place fun and lively. Old character, new design, good food and wine. It’s hard to imagine better.
