Antico Borgo Piceno

Betty was an excellent host. The place was quiet and clean, with shops and bars an easy walk away. Breakfast each day had fresh fruit and freshly made pastries.

The balcony was great, and I liked the town view and short walk into town. The bed was super comfortable, the shower roomy, and breakfast was delicious, with real coffee. There’s a full kitchen in the room, and it would make a great base for a few days. It was so quiet at night that I didn’t need my sound machine. No complaints at all. One of the best places I’ve ever stayed, and about as close to perfect accommodation as I’ve found.

Breakfast was made to suit what we liked, and the host was kind and helpful. The rooms were clean, thoughtfully designed, and well equipped, while the whole place felt beautiful and comfortable. Antico Borgo sits just across the Roman Bridge from the historic center, with breathtaking views of the city towers. One of the best places we’ve stayed in Italy.

From the street, you wouldn’t guess what’s inside. Past the wrought iron entrance there’s a peaceful garden full of flowering plants, with a view across the river to the old town. The apartment is well equipped, in an old building that’s been fully modernized. Elizabetta was gracious and pleasant, and did everything she could to make our stay memorable. The location is hard to beat: cross the old Roman Bridge and you’re in the heart of the medieval town in about five minutes. We spent three nights in Ascoli Piceno and could easily have stayed longer. It’s a delightful place, with lots to see, friendly people, and good restaurants. On our five-week trip around Italy, it was one of the highlights.
