Residenza dei Capitani

Our stay in wonderful Ascoli Piceno was much too short. The staff were very friendly, and the room was large, bright, and quiet, even though it faced a street next to Piazza del Popolo. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. There’s no 24-hour reception, but that wasn’t a problem since you can just tell them when you’ll arrive. Breakfast is Italian style at a nearby bar, and paid parking is available.

The square looked incredible from here. The place was very clean and comfortable, and the staff were helpful.

We stayed three nights in Room 6 at Residenza Dei Capitani, which has a partial view of Piazza del Popolo. The location was just right, and Alessia at reception was very helpful. The large Queensize bed was comfortable, though the sofa bed was less so for an adult and would probably suit children better. The bathroom was roomy and very clean, with thick, fluffy bath sheets and good quality toiletries provided. In the room we had a Lavazza coffee maker, a kettle with a selection of teas and coffee pods, and bottled mineral water in the little fridge. The TV was large, but only had Italian channels. We didn’t need to use the air conditioning during our visit. Breakfast was included at a nearby cafè: coffee or tea and a pastry, using the hotel voucher. Extra food or drinks cost a small amount at the cafè. We left the car at Parcheggio Ex-Seminario, about a 7-minute walk away. Parking cost €2 per night, plus €0.80 per hour during the day. It was a lovely first visit to Ascoli Piceno, and we’ll definitely return.

Our room #8 was spacious and looked out over the beautiful piazza. The decor is old school, but that suited us fine. The staff were friendly and efficient. I was happy with the stay and will come back.
