Albergo Speranza

I strongly advise against staying here. The rooms and the rest of the hotel were very dirty, with dust, hair, and dirty towels. There was a moldy, unpleasant smell throughout, even in the rooms. Staff were rude and seemed very inexperienced, and didn't know what they were doing. Google Maps and Booking.com showed free breakfast and parking, but in the morning we were told breakfast hadn't been paid for, so we went elsewhere. There is no hotel parking lot, only a paid parking lot belonging to the local health authority. When we asked where to find free parking, staff couldn't tell us. I booked one night and had a terrible experience.

I went into the bar at the "Albergo Speranza" hotel to ask about bus tickets and schedules, since the hotel had a ticket office. The first thing I noticed was a strong cigarette smell, which I found completely unacceptable for a hotel bar. The tobacconist at the bar was also extremely rude, rushing us, telling us to leave and saying we would have to fend for ourselves. We got no answer to our questions and no useful information at all. I strongly advise against this place, the service is terrible.

The location is excellent, practically right downtown, and the staff were friendly. The rooms have a 1970s look, and breakfast costs extra and is mostly packaged food. It's extremely affordable, so I'd recommend it to people with modest expectations.

We came back after many years and still liked it. The room had been renovated, and it was warm and comfortable. The location is perfect, right downtown and near a large free parking lot. I think the place deserves more than one star, perhaps even three.
