The Orange House

The owner was nice, and the room was clean. The bed and shower were both good.

We only needed a room for one night after our hotel couldn't check us in during the middle of the night. This place was reasonably priced, and our room was clean, with its own bathroom. The welcome snacks and cold drinks were a nice touch. The owner was friendly and gave us all the information we needed to find the place and use the room. There are three rooms with private bathrooms, plus two shared living rooms and a kitchen. Parking is behind an automatic gate, which felt safer for the car than leaving it on the street. Breakfast is served at a restaurant about a 10-minute walk away. It's just a croissant and coffee.

The bed was really uncomfortable, and the rooms were dirty and noisy. I stayed a few days for work, but there was no cleaning at all and I was only given one towel. The worst B&B I've ever stayed in. Not recommended.

The shared kitchen and its big fridge were handy, and the electric gate did secure the property. But getting through the broken driveway was a nightmare because the car kept bottoming out. The drains in the sink and shower needed plunging every day, and the plunger was already there. Our two big bottles of mineral water also went missing. At check-in, the owner wanted payment straight away and didn't give us a receipt. In 33-degree heat, the hostess told us to switch off the air conditioning for the other guests, then opened all the windows in the living and kitchen area. We were also asked to keep quiet so we wouldn't disturb an elderly couple. Breakfast meant going to a bar and bakery about 100 meters away. With a signed business card, we got one coffee and one pastry. We ordered more and offered to pay the difference, but the baker waved us off. The same happened on day two, and we didn't offer to pay on days three to five. Several days after we left and were back on the mainland, I got an outrageous email calling us ungrateful, saying we'd eaten too much breakfast and they hadn't earned anything from us. Then came an invoice. We were shocked to be treated like deadbeats when we'd been willing to pay. An Italian friend has since transferred the requested €25. The hotel dog barked day and night, and airplane noise also ruined our vacation. We certainly won't stay there again.
