Camere Calocci

I can’t see why this place has such a high score. I’d give it one point, or less if that were possible. It doesn’t feel like a hotel in any usual sense, and finding it is a real challenge: there’s no sign or directions, and even people in Assisi couldn’t pinpoint it. The corridors are narrow and the steps feel dangerous, with no elevator. There are so many issues with this hotel and guest house. I wouldn’t recommend it at all.

If you’re driving, the owner’s discount brings parking at Parcheggio Porta Mojano down from 12 euros to 10 for the day. It’s a multi-level garage with cameras, about a five-minute walk from the rooms, so you can leave the car there safely. The rooms are only a few minutes from the Old Town, fairly spacious, and have comfortable beds. There’s also a restaurant next door with outstanding food at great prices. The owner was really helpful and explained everything we needed to know.

There’s no lift, and it’s a little hard to find since there’s no sign. Still, the room is bright, roomy and spotless, with a nice modern bathroom. There’s a kettle, mugs and coffee in the room. Breakfast is served at a nearby bar.

I loved staying here. It’s right in the center of Assisi, stylish, and close to plenty of restaurants and bars. The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful.
