Hotel Residence Capo Campolato

The team at Capo Campolato looked after us from our first meeting through all the wedding planning, with professionalism and kindness. They handled our special requests carefully and respectfully, and communication was smooth even though Italian wasn’t our main language. On the day, everything was in place. The staff took care of the details and were professional and punctual. The setting is magical, with an amazing view, and the decorations were just what we wanted. Our guests are still talking about how good the food was. Celebrating our wedding here was the best decision, so don’t hesitate if you’re considering this venue. We went to a wedding here, and the space, food, servers, lighting, water features, and sea view with Mount Etna in the distance all made it feel ideal. Many guests said it was the best wedding they’d ever attended. My daughter called our separate room an "igloo". The design was beautiful and gave us plenty of privacy and a distinctive feel. The shower was roomy and luxurious. The beds were fine, and comfortable enough for my husband and me despite having different preferences. We’d just come from a place with horrible beds, so we appreciated that. We decided the day before the wedding to spend the night at the resort so we wouldn’t have to drive at 2 a.m. Breakfast is offered, but we slept until 10 and missed it. We were exhausted at the end of our trip, so that was on us. Everyone was helpful, and the people, concept, and space were fantastic. I wouldn’t look anywhere else when visiting the Brucoli/Augusta area.

The restaurant was disappointing: the cover charge was 5 euros, the menu was quite pricey, and the food was mediocre. We stayed in a superior “Dammusi” room, but I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re after a peaceful holiday with professional staff. A bridal party repeatedly shouted and cheered outside at 8 a.m., waking us even though our room was a row away. At the front desk, staff said they couldn’t control other guests and that the wedding would be over later that evening. After breakfast, the group was still loud, taking wedding photos right outside other guests’ rooms without regard for privacy. They also told my party we couldn’t sit on our own patio because photos were being taken. When we checked out just after 10 a.m., they were still taking pictures by the rooms, and I felt very uncomfortable. We couldn’t open the curtains and enjoy the window view without being photographed in our hotel room. At checkout, staff again said it wasn’t their fault and they hadn’t known the bridal party would be there. How could a hotel not know that a wedding party staying there was having its wedding there? And how can it not be responsible for guests’ peace, quiet, and privacy? Staff then tried to gaslight us, saying it was only a few minutes of noise and ended shortly. It lasted more than two hours that morning, enough to wake us and keep us from falling back asleep. The incident itself was unpleasant, but the way they handled it was even more disappointing. The hotel won’t accept responsibility and still hasn’t offered a sincere apology without shifting the blame.

The sea is such a vivid blue, and on a clear day you can see Mount Etna. The setting is peaceful and the location is superb, though you'll need your own transport to stay here. This was our second visit, and there have been some physical additions since then, including the fantastic new Igloos. It's a lovely place for events, especially weddings. Breakfast is basic, with limited choice. The staff are polite and helpful, but hardly ever smile. Our room was clean and good; the self-catering residences could use more cooking utensils. Highly recommended.
