Hotel Velino

The location is near plenty of restaurants, and the rooms were clean with plenty of bathrooms. Beyond that, this was a frustrating stay. Our room had no dresser for unpacking, no iron, and the hotel had no ice. Although it calls itself a business hotel, there was no business center or meeting room, and the WiFi was so poor that I had to reauthenticate nearly every hour, making it impossible to VPN into the office. The internet allowed only one device at a time. If you logged in and then sat in the lobby, your session didn't follow you, and you couldn't log in again until it expired. Breakfast was excellent, but delivered to the room, so there was no shared space to sit and talk with other guests or coworkers. When we talked in the lobby, the little bald men at the desk gave us nasty looks. The restaurant had been closed for an unknown reason, then was opened for us for a few days so we could eat breakfast there. On our last day, we were refused our final meal. There were six coworkers staying here. Parking wasn't designated for hotel guests. The old-fashioned key setup was odd too: you're supposed to leave the key at reception, but the keys sit on a shelf rather than behind the desk, so you don't take one with you.

The hotel was quiet and well kept, with a very contemporary feel. It's only a block from the train and bus station. There was air conditioning, and breakfast was great: you could make your own eggs, and there were cakes, yogurt, and cappuccinos made to order.

The staff were all friendly and really helpful, suggesting restaurants and popular spots. The internet was fast, and breakfast was the usual Italian spread with lots of sweets, quite heavy. It's right in the city center, with the main square about a 5 minute walk away. The station and shops are close too. Our room was lovely, with a good bed, and the bathroom was new and very nice.

A convenient spot for the town center and a good location for a business trip. The room was okay and met my needs. I would have liked tea and coffee facilities, though they are available in some of the other rooms.
