The lake is nice, and this could work for a one-night stop. The town felt strange, though, and I wouldn't eat in the restaurant: it was very dirty inside. The pans looked clean, but most surfaces seemed not to have been dusted in years. The elderly gentleman running the campsite was pleasant, but the place didn't seem maintained. It was very dirty and old, with lots of broken things. We showered in our van and ended up only using our own toilet.

The restaurant staff were friendly, and it seems to be a family-run place, which makes the lack of upkeep a shame. The whole site looks run down. Only one of the three men's showers worked; the showers and sinks were dirty, coat hooks were broken, and the lights kept acting up. The children's area equipment was broken and falling apart, the toilets hadn't been cleaned, and there was no toilet paper. It feels like the site hasn't been cleaned for seasons. For a single night stop, it's just about tolerable. One star feels generous.

My brother and I stayed here while touring on our motorbikes. The owners were friendly, and the restaurant area was a nice place to chat with local characters. Pitches under the big trees were pleasant, and the facilities were clean, though they could use an upgrade. It's rough around the edges but has an old-fashioned charm. Swimming in the big lake wasn't so easy: the nearest access is a private club that doesn't let non-members in. The public entry is farther along the shore, over slippery rocks.

The campsite is in a lovely spot between two lakes, but it's small and very poorly maintained. I wasn't bothered by some doors that wouldn't close or a shower without a light. The same friendly, helpful, easygoing people run the campsite and the little evening pizzeria. Maybe that's why it isn't the cleanest, though I've definitely seen worse places.
