Da Mary Guest House

We got into Palermo late in the evening, and this was the only place available. The lady managing it was very kind, but the property has been left to deteriorate. Everything felt rundown, the rooms had old, makeshift furniture, the armchairs were filthy, and the bathroom was dreadful and wasn't even in the room. A terrible place.

Mrs. Mary was very kind, and the location is ideal if you want to walk around the city center. Arriving by car is less convenient because parking costs money and the place is in a restricted traffic zone. The rooms need work. My bed had a very low mattress on a wooden base, definitely unsuitable for heavier people. There was hardly any furniture, and what there was looked salvaged.

The rooms have everything you need for a holiday or work trip, and they’re clean and air-conditioned. Mary is a terrific host, welcoming and attentive, and she listens carefully to guests’ requests, even the unusual ones. The place is simple but comfortable enough for even demanding visitors. Five stars from me.

The bathroom had no light, and the toilet came with a bucket of water. The shower curtain kept falling, the doors were ruined, and so were the chairs. In the bedroom, mold covered the walls and the single bed was broken, leaving three of us to share a double. The chandelier was just a bulb hanging down. Have some decency and check the rooms before renting them out. To me, this feels like a scam. I strongly advise people to stay away.
