La Fortezza Alta

The restored fort and neighboring building are beautiful, and the family who live there made us feel so welcome. The property itself is stunning, with fruit orchards too. Visit or stay whenever you get the chance!

A special medieval fort with 600 years of history. There’s a restaurant, and you can stay overnight or arrange weddings and other celebrations there.

It was pretty good, but the wifi wasn’t working properly.

The fortress is beautiful, and it’s a nice place, especially for taking photos of an 18th. But the food was like discount-store quality, served buffet-style. I’ve been three times, including once when I stayed in the rooms, and had a discussion every time. They really need to make sure both the owner and waiters check on guests. They’ll put out a slice of ham, a slice of salami, and a mozzarella. If you help yourself, they tell you off and ask what you’re doing there. They won’t give you the larger mozzarella because it has to be shared among everyone. I came those three times for the FM guy, who deserves credit for putting in the effort. Let’s leave the others aside. At the end of dinner I asked for coffee and sambuca, then waited an hour without anyone even acknowledging me, so I left. It feels like guests don’t count, when they should understand that guests are what keep them going. They could use a little more humility.
