We came back for a week of skiing in January and would highly recommend La Rouja. The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from the gondola and ski area, and its arrangement with the local ski hire place means they store your gear so you don't have to carry skis and boots every day. The staff were fantastic, friendly, and helpful. Food was great, with plenty of local dishes and wines on the menu. We stayed in a junior suite, which was spacious, and the beds were comfortable. The hotel looks recently renovated in a rustic Alpine style, with all the modern conveniences. The spa was brilliant too: it has a hot tub, sauna, steam room, and heated outdoor pool, which is fun in the cold.

The room was small, so we should have booked a superior one, but the price was still great value and the staff were pleasant. We really liked the massage, and the brand-new spa never seemed too crowded. Breakfast was very good. We had dinner twice, one meal was nice and the other just okay. The location works well too, within walking distance of the ski lifts. Compared with other four-star hotels in the Alps, the rating may be off; I’d call this a very good three-star hotel. Still, great value and I’d stay again.

The junior suite was excellent, and the hotel and spa are in a lovely spot, not far from the lifts. Breakfast was good, with excellent waiting staff looking after us. The evening menu was the letdown. It seemed to aim for a la carte, but portions were very small and many dishes had little or no meat. I also missed traditional Italian food.

Visited in March 2019. The hotel staff were really great, and the accommodation, location, and value were all lovely. Breakfast and dinner waiting staff could have been more attentive, though. Also, the chef put strawberry sauce on every plate. It was just weird, but didn't spoil food that was otherwise excellent. Read the website carefully too, since the spa is 20 minutes away, not at the hotel. Those things kept this from being a five-star review.
