Albergo Meublv Vecchio Scarpone

We spent two nights here, with breakfast and dinner, and it was a delightful choice. The staff gave us a warm welcome, served quickly, and surprised us with a great selection of local dishes with a more sophisticated touch. Our room was new and carefully thought through. The only thing I’d change is the hot water pressure in the shower, since we were on the second floor. It seems like a great base for hiking nearby, and for a pleasant summer breakfast or dinner outside on the terrace.

The breakfast buffet had a great range of freshly made food, along with juice, yogurt, bread, coffee, and more. We also got a bite to eat after arriving late, just after the restaurant had closed, including lasagna with locally sourced wild boar. Elena and the rest of the staff were welcoming and terrific. They shared interesting things about the region and plenty of excursion ideas. The hotel has a charming alpine feel, and our recently renovated room was stylish and very comfortable. We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Vecchio Scarpone and only wish we could have stayed longer. I can’t recommend it enough.

The restaurant is delicious, and the pastries are amazing. Vecchio Scarpone is one of the most charming, clean hotels I’ve stayed in in Italy. Definitely a place to enjoy if you visit this breathtaking part of the country.

I’d give this zero stars if I could. A weekend meant for celebrating and enjoying the start of the Christmas season in December was ruined by aggressive behavior from the hotel manager, Elena. We arrived at 13:00 for a restaurant lunch, and our room was already ready. Mrs. Elena welcomed us in to drop off our luggage, which we appreciated, even though we hadn’t asked for early check-in. We went straight to lunch. The food was decent, but nothing special. When lunch was over around 14:30, we went to the room to change. Before leaving, we checked the door, as we always do because we keep the computers and cameras we use for work in our room. It opened easily even though it was supposed to be locked. We politely told reception that the door wasn’t locking properly. Mrs. Elena immediately turned red, raised her voice, and accused us of making it up. We asked her to come and check, but she even refused to share the elevator with us. She went upstairs and tested it, and the door that was supposed to lock opened for her too. Once she saw her reaction had been wrong, she started shouting at us loudly and aggressively. I’ve never seen anyone get angry so quickly over a polite report of a problem and a request to fix it. I was seriously frightened by her behavior. We eventually left because she clearly wanted to fight with us. The more we asked her to calm down, the more she screamed. I later checked reviews here and on other platforms and saw we weren’t the first guests to have this experience. I’m still in shock, and that rude woman completely ruined our weekend. Thankfully, another woman was at reception the next morning, probably her mother, since it seems to be a family business. She told us a technician had come to check and fix the doors because something was wrong with the electrical equipment. Still, there was no apology at all. Then I asked for the lunch bill, and it was €72. A real joke. We’d only had tea to drink and no dessert. This was the worst holiday experience of our lives. Avoid this place at all costs!
