La Rada B&B

The room was nice, and the view and location were incredible. There are parking options, and restaurants, cafes, beaches, and ancient ruins are all just a short distance away. Getting the keys, though, was a really unpleasant experience. I had to chase up all the contact myself and ended up stuck outside the locked property, waiting in vain for a call, a message, or some sign of how to get in. A host should keep track of their daily bookings and send travelers a simple message explaining the check-in and key collection process.

The harbour view from the spacious apartment was lovely, and there’s parking nearby for an extra €10 a day, which seemed fine. Breakfast was good too, just a coffee and fresh pastry from a place about five minutes away where the staff were very friendly. We spent two nights at The Rada B&B. The bed creaked a bit and the pillows were lumpy, and I was surprised nobody cleaned the room or made the bed after the first night. There was quite a lot of nightlife noise, with restaurants right below us and loud music again early the next morning.

There’s no reception or concierge, and responses to emails or texts were pretty slow. The Wi-Fi also wasn’t working, so come prepared to be patient. The location in Baiae is hard to beat, right beside the harbour and above restaurants that get busy at night. The rooms are large, clean and have full opening windows, air conditioning, a kitchen and bathrooms. The beds, though, were quite hard and uncomfortable. A memory foam topper might help so you don’t feel the mattress springs.

The host gets back to you very quickly if you have a question, and the room is spacious. The Rada sits right on the seafront above a row of fantastic seafood restaurants, so the location is perfect. Highly recommended if you want to see a bit of 'real' Italy!
