Agriturismo & Locanda Corte Marani

The rooms were clean and the place itself was nice. The owner’s handling of everything else made this a terrible stay, though. When I arrived, I asked where and when breakfast was served, and she seemed surprised that I expected it to be included. I had to negotiate and show her the Hotels.com listing before she agreed. The listing also said there was Wi-Fi in the rooms, but she told me it was only available in a separate room because, in her view, Wi-Fi waves harm people’s health. A few feet from the windows there’s a motocross track, with exhaust and noise, which made that explanation especially hard to take seriously. She later claimed in her app response that online amenities are “standardized” or not “aligned” with what the property provides. I don’t accept that. What the listing says is agreed with the property, and it’s the operator’s responsibility to make sure those details are true. If it says breakfast is included and Wi-Fi is in every room, that’s what guests should get. The breakfast I found was also nothing like a buffet. I wasn’t told on arrival that the place closed at 10 p.m. On the first night, I went out to dinner and came back at 10:30 without anyone saying a word. Later, after a work dinner, I returned at 1:15 a.m. and was charged an extra €15 the next morning because I hadn’t agreed on my return time before leaving for Vinitaly. No one had explained any late-entry procedure at check-in. I’ve stayed in hotels all over the world, and rarely had an experience like this. The owner was reluctant to honor what had been promised online, didn’t explain the house rules, and tried to impose her beliefs about Wi-Fi on guests. The property was nice, but she badly needs a course in modern hospitality management, or a different line of work. I won’t be back.
