Breakfast in the garden was a lovely way to start the day, and Elisabetha and Alvaro were happy to help with whatever we needed. The place itself is beautiful and full of history. I’d gladly come back with my family soon.

The garden was one of the loveliest sights of my Cammino del Salento trip, and the room was cozy, with its own bathroom and separate entrance in a historic building. Elisabetta and Alvaro welcomed me so warmly, even though I turned up at the last minute without a booking. I felt at home. I hope I can return and stay longer, because this place deserves it.

Bagnolo is tiny, but it’s well placed between Otranto and Maglie, and the sea is only about 10 minutes away. We spent three days at Antico Aranceto with friends and had a lovely short break. Our small apartment had a kitchen-living area and two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. It was peaceful, with a view of the beautiful garden. The antique furnishings were spotless, breakfast in the main building included fruit, cakes, and homemade jams, and the owners were welcoming and attentive.

We booked four days before arriving after reading about the amenities online, but what we found didn’t match those descriptions. The room looked nice, yet it was missing basic things: no TV, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, wardrobe, bedside table, or bidet. We kept our clothes in our suitcases. Wi-Fi mattered because there was no phone signal in the room either. Breakfast was sparse and we had to prepare it ourselves, eating it standing in the room instead of using the shared kitchen as the website said. We also had to ask for fresh towels. For a place in the Salento hinterland, the price is far too high for what’s provided. A negative experience.
