Sara was a lovely host, and this beautiful, authentic Italian Palazzo made for a great stay. I’d happily come back, though I wish checkout were later than 10am. Most places we stayed in Europe allowed us until 11am or later, and I’d hoped for a little more time to relax instead of rushing, especially with four of us sharing one bathroom and needing to shower and pack. The house has four floors including the attic, so be ready for some stairs. There’s a toilet and basin on the ground floor, with a bathroom on the third level. Parking is some distance away, and you have to carry your luggage, but it was worth the trouble. We four Australian travellers had a lovely experience. Thank you, Sara.

The house matched its description on booking, and the owners were helpful. We got instructions through WhatsApp, picked up the keys from a coded box, and found a bottle of wine on the table. The place was well-kept and had clean linens. The awkward part is the layout: it runs over four floors linked by internal stairs that aren’t very convenient. Still, it’s a historic building, and booking had mentioned this. There’s also just one bathroom with a shower for six people, which isn’t very practical, though I’m not sure how it could be changed. All in all, everything was fine.
We were right in the center of Bagnoregio, down a narrow alley, and used a coded key on the door to get in. The apartment was tidy, clean, and well looked after. The host was great: there was a bottle of wine waiting on the table, breakfast supplies were provided, and sheets and towels were included in the price, despite what Booking.com had said. With six people, one bathroom with a shower was a drawback. The other inconvenience was the layout over three floors and an attic, though that’s how the village houses are built. Everything else was beautiful and excellent. We’d do it again.
Sara greeted us warmly when we arrived, showed us around, and explained what we needed to know. There was a welcome bottle of wine and plenty for breakfast: pastries, toast, crackers, jams, cakes, fruit juice, yogurt, milk, coffee, and mixed fruit. The place is comfortable, furnished with period pieces, and spread over three floors, which gives you a bit of exercise each day. It was a shame there was no air conditioning, which wasn’t authorized, but the fans helped take the edge off the heat. Thanks to Marco and Sara for a peaceful little break.
We only had a weekend at Palazzo Granaroli, but the apartment had thoughtful touches throughout. The rooms were clean, and the fully equipped kitchen and spacious living room worked well, with a relaxation area for adults and games for children. Patrizia and her staff welcomed us kindly and put a lot of care into looking after us. The central parking area was easy to reach with luggage, and Borgo di Civita is only a short walk away. I hope we can return soon.
