Hotel Cormorano

The breakfast was incredible, and otherwise this is a great hotel with a lovely pool and a fantastic location, though you’ll need a rental car. The reason I’m giving it four stars is the Wi-Fi: it wouldn’t work on the second floor, and our room didn’t even show a network to connect to. If reliable Wi-Fi is a dealbreaker for you, don’t stay here.

Club Hotel Cormorano is less than a five-minute walk from the beach and town center, with restaurants and bars nearby. We had a lovely week here. Breakfast was excellent, with sweet and savory choices for everyone, and the staff were helpful. The whole hotel was spotless. Just so you know, laundry and ironing are paid services, and there’s no option to iron your own clothes. We’d happily come back and recommend it.

We had an incredible time and would happily return. We especially liked relaxing on the poolside veranda with a Hugo spritz while watching the sunset, and the beach was close by. The rooms were comfortable and really clean. The hotel wasn’t especially crowded, and its no-towels-to-reserve-pool-beds policy made things much more relaxed. We also enjoyed the staff, breakfast, pool and location. A small store in the piazza sells large bottles of water for the fridge, which is handy because tap water isn’t potable and the hotel supplies one bottle. A couple of things listed online weren’t available: there was no babysitting, and beach beds cost €20-40 depending on where you sit. Private beach access and babysitting were two things we’d specifically been looking for. We were pleasantly surprised by the busy piazza right next door, which stays open very late.

The rooms aren’t modern, but that gave them some charm. They have a TV, fridge and air conditioning; the bathrooms were clean, and towels are changed daily if you want. The beach is just a five-minute walk away, while the hotel’s small pool is free to use. There’s no private beach, and sunbeds are expensive: £33 for two with an umbrella, or £25 a day for one chair and an umbrella. Breakfast had a wide range of fruit, vegetables, meats, breads, cakes and croissants, plus gluten-free options. We didn’t have lunch or dinner there, so I can’t comment on those. The staff were lovely and accommodating. If you ask the cleaning ladies for something, they’ll make sure it’s in your room when you get back. The pool bar was well stocked, and the cocktails were very strong. Joas, thanks for your version of the “white Russian.” This hotel has what you need if you’re happy without modern rooms, and it’s a beautiful, peaceful place.
