Palazzo Gatto Art Hotel & SPA, BW Premier Collection

The rooms look new, modern, and spotless, and the staff are nice. The location is very good too. It’s one of the prettiest hotels I’ve stayed in, especially the rooms, but several things affected our stay quite a bit. The biggest issue for us was the SPA charge: 40€ per person for one hour just to get in, with no massage or other service included. That seems extortionate, especially given the hotel is already at the higher end of Trapani centre prices. Plenty of hotels call themselves SPAs and then charge guests a huge extra fee. We found an external SPA where we could spend two hours for the same price. The bathroom is divided from the room by glass, but you can still see a lot and hear nearly everything, which was uncomfortable since we weren’t staying with a partner. The tap also seemed to have no cold water, as it ran rather hot whatever way we turned the handle. In December the room was so warm at night that we spent most of it without covers, and the ventilation didn’t seem to help. We were also woken at 8am by a scratching sound, possibly from construction work, on a Saturday morning.

I keep coming back to Palazzo Gatto. The front desk team are kind, helpful, and keen to sort out any problems. The rooms are beautiful, breakfast buffet is great, and the spa is wonderful. There are good deals on massage packages too. Giusy, the massage therapist, has magic hands. I love the sea salt body scrubs. They leave my skin soft, supple, and moisturized. Highly recommend.

On our second stay here, the staff were friendly and helpful throughout, and went above and beyond with the service. Our room was much more spacious than we expected by European standards, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was a delight, with plenty of fresh fruit to choose from. The hotel is close to lots of attractions, and it’s a short ride to the tram to Erice. I’d happily stay here again. ❤️

If you can, avoid this hotel. Our room was right above a very noisy bar, so getting any sleep before 2:00 am was out of the question. The staff’s behavior was annoying and unprofessional. They offered us this exact room as an upgrade on site, even though they knew how noisy the street was. The next morning they didn’t take our complaint seriously and gave us a completely unacceptable response. We’ll now raise it directly with the operator Best Western. If you want to sleep, don’t book here.
