B&B Il Vecchio Messina

The room was far too hot, and opening the window wasn’t an option because of the noise. There was no air conditioning or coffee, and the service was poor. Even though we were ill, we couldn’t get a little extra time after checkout without paying for another full night. Checkout is at 10 a.m., which is early. The place wasn’t terrible, but it felt overpriced for Sicily, with comfort and service that didn’t measure up.

Maria was such a lovely, helpful owner, and I want to thank her. The B&B is just steps from the beach and old town, and the rooms and bathrooms were very clean. I loved the beautiful old furniture and accessories, they had real character. The best B&B in Trapani ❤️ Saluti dalla Polonia 🥰

We slept comfortably, and the fans were enough to keep the room pleasant at night. The rooms and bathrooms were exceptionally clean. The B&B sits in the heart of the old town, in a historic tenement that might be Trapani’s most photographed building 😊 Bakeries, restaurants, and bars are right outside, and the nearest beach is about a three-minute walk. The place has a lovely Italian feel. Our hosts were very helpful, and Maria always had great advice. Our vacation was perfect.

Maria was welcoming and easy to reach, while still giving me privacy. I also enjoyed meeting and chatting with her charming teenage daughter. I picked this budget place for its traditional decor and tiled floors, and they were lovely. The building itself is striking, and the old town location is ideal if you want to explore without a car. I had a very nice stay. My room was spotless and had a basin, fan, fresh towels, fridge, kettle, tea, and other useful things. The shared bathrooms and corridors were kept extremely clean all the time. The old building is on the main street, with restaurants, cafe-bars, and shops nearby. The beach, airport bus stop, bus to Erice, and port for the island ferries are all just a few minutes away. Across from the port, a travel agency with Alitalia above the door was very helpful and gave me the tourist information I needed. There were a few downsides. The bed was quite hard, and the fridge was so loud that I unplugged it at night. People sometimes shouted in the street after the bars closed, which disrupted my sleep. I wore earbuds with white noise to avoid waking up. My balcony looked over the rear street, which wasn’t a particularly pleasant place to sit.
