Fattoria Casa Sola

The views were breathtaking, the wine was outstanding, and Matteo was a great source of information. As the family's patriarch, he personally told us about the property's history and the different Chianti wines made there. We learned how the grapes are grown and turned into wine, then tasted several wines with delicious Italian food. After several winery visits on our trip, Casa Sola was clearly our best overall experience. Highly recommend!

The Masterclass made for an incredible afternoon and a real highlight of our trip. The wine we had shipped arrived without a problem, and we're enjoying it all.

I was staying in the lovely nearby village of San Donato, just a few minutes' drive away, and really enjoyed visiting this vineyard. Their Chianti Classic 2014 was my favorite, and the wine tasting selection is quite good. I haven't stayed at the property, though it's beautiful. Maybe next time I'll stay a week or two, enjoy the wine, and relax :D

We had just three hours before an afternoon event and hoped to visit a small winery. With no nearby options, we drove over an hour to Casa Sola. I emailed the day before and got a quick reply saying the wine shop opened daily at 10:00 AM. I told them we'd be there right at opening. We got up early and made the 1.5-hour drive. The shop was locked when we arrived. I called, and the same person I'd emailed came out. He said a group of 30 was due soon. I explained we only wanted a quick tasting, and he took us to the tasting room, where another employee was setting up glasses. The two staff members immediately started arguing in Italian in front of us. A few minutes later, the first man said, "I'm sorry, but we can't do a tasting today because you didn't make an appointment." I showed him the email confirming our 10:00 AM arrival, but he brushed it off completely. We left disappointed and noticed Casa Emma down the road. It turned out to be a lucky find. Elena welcomed us, and although they were fully booked with over 100 guests expected, she offered a quick standing tasting. It became a wonderful sampling of six wines, olive oil, and balsamic vinegars aged 12, 25, and 100 years. We were so pleased that we bought over €1,000 worth of wine, oil, and the 100-year-old balsamic. Huge thanks to Elena for rescuing our morning and making the long drive worthwhile. Avoid Casa Sola and head straight to Casa Emma instead.
