We were asked for our license plate well before arriving so we could enter the pedestrian zone to load and unload our bags. The owner said he’d pass it to the local police so we could drive through without trouble. We sent the number on time, and everything seemed to be in order. Now, six months later, we’ve been fined €100 for supposedly entering the zone without authorization. I contacted the owner to ask for help and got completely ignored. We’re left with the fine. If zero stars were an option, that’s what I’d give. Stay away, don’t book!
We were told at the accommodation that we could drive into the traffic-calmed area to unload and load our things. Three months later, we got hit with a €95 parking fine. Absolutely outrageous. I wouldn’t recommend it. For that money, we could have stayed somewhere much nicer.
Bardolino itself, the apartment, and the whole area are lovely. You can step straight out into the center, and it’s a nicely furnished, well-kept place. If you have a car, you can pull up to load or unload, but there’s nowhere to park at the apartment, and it’s in a restricted traffic zone. There’s a public lot nearby, though parking is limited to two hours. Finding a space can take patience, and you can’t leave the car there all day. There’s plenty to enjoy on foot, so walk around until you’re tired. I recommend it.
Everything worked in the kitchen and bedrooms, and the apartment was clean and pleasant. The owner was available to explain things. On very hot days, though, the living room air conditioning didn’t cool the bedroom enough. We had that issue during the August bank holiday week. Apart from that, everything was perfect.
The apartment was fine, and our first contact went well. But once I got a letter from the police saying I’d entered the restricted area in front of the accommodation illegally, they stopped responding. They couldn’t show that my entry had been registered, so it looks like they forgot to submit my license plate. That’s left me with an extra €200 to pay, and I got no help at all.
