Casa Anicia

For our second visit, we stayed in Casa Chiara and felt comfortable again. The view from the apartment was breathtaking. One thing that felt awkward was the route to Casa Chiara, which goes right past the entrance and patio of Rifugio di Giusy. It made us feel as though we might be disturbing the people staying there. When we left, a severe thunderstorm hit Bardolino and flooded the path around the house and the parking lot, with water 5-6 cm deep in places. It wasn't safe to leave the apartment in those conditions. The cleaning staff who were there were friendly and understanding. Three people initially arrived, but two left straight away and only one stayed to wait. Even so, the cost of two cleaners was later taken from our security deposit. We hadn't been told about this in advance, and it felt like a penalty for not leaving earlier, even though the weather made that unsafe. Communication with Sabina was rather unsympathetic this time, which disappointed us because we'd always found her very pleasant before. It left a bitter aftertaste. Our earlier stay in the Casa Anicia apartment had been very pleasant too, and we were very satisfied with it. It was exceptionally clean, charmingly furnished, and only a few minutes from Bardolino by bike. Booking went smoothly, and our questions were always answered quickly. We'd gladly recommend it, despite a few things that could be improved. The main room's air conditioning wasn't working, and we would have appreciated a price reduction or other compensation. The kitchen was sparsely equipped, especially the cutlery. We had just three forks, which was a challenge since we cooked regularly. A fuller set would have helped. We also arrived with bicycles and a dog trailer but couldn't find anywhere suitable to store them. A dedicated bicycle area in the parking lot would be useful. There was a large sign on our door saying bicycles weren't allowed inside, so we suspect other guests had the same problem.

The lake view is fantastic, and the house is beautifully furnished with care. It's close to the center and shops, and the kitchen is fully equipped. We also loved the pool and relaxation area. I'll definitely be back.

The hosts were always around when needed and incredibly kind. Everything was so carefully looked after, and it's a beautiful place. Highly recommended.
