Hotel des Geneys Splendid

They took us in late in the evening and made sure we had dinner, which we were very grateful for. Hotel Genys is a welcoming old family hotel with a lot of history, spacious rooms and lounge areas, and lovely views of the mountains. The people running it are lovely.

We had a lovely stay in a beautiful setting, surrounded by stunning scenery. Local restaurants, cafés, and shops are just a short walk away. The owner was so welcoming and accommodating, and really made our stay special. The food was wholesome and there was plenty of it. I’d absolutely recommend it.

We spent a week here and had a great trip. For skiing, it’s an ideal base. The rooms are basic, as other people have said, but the beds are comfortable, everything was clean, and we had mountain views. They had what we needed for somewhere to sleep before heading out to ski. The staff really made the holiday. They were kind, generous, and happy to help with our random requests, including a kettle. At dinner, the waiting staff got to know us and remembered that we liked a bowl of oil for our bread. It was there waiting for us each day, a lovely touch. Breakfast is a tasty, varied buffet with fresh pastries and plenty of eggs. Dinner starts with a buffet of starters, so be careful not to fill up, then there’s a three-course meal. There’s less choice for vegetarians, but always one option on the menu. For the price, you get a lot. It’s a great family-run hotel. People complaining may be expecting five-star amenities on a three-star budget, and the family deserves support for what they’re doing.

We come back every year for a family ski holiday. The rooms are a little dated, but the hospitality is fantastic and they really work hard to make sure you have a great vacation. The dinners are great too, Italian style.
