The staff were exceptionally friendly and did what they could to help, and the rooms were cleaned well. Still, the price is extremely high for such a mediocre stay. The old, aging buildings fit the rural Puglia surroundings, but the place seems to be slowly falling apart without anything fundamental being done to improve it. The restaurant was a joke, and breakfast was dreadful: toast in plastic packets with Nutella packets, perhaps some cake with pudding. It all felt very strange. As in other places we saw in Puglia, there seemed to be no push to improve or hope things would be better than they are now.

Having access to the sea was the one saving grace. Otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend this campsite. Paying 30 euros just to pitch a tent under a tree feels cheeky, and showers cost extra for about two minutes of lukewarm water at best. If you’re camping, I’d head out of town and find an olive tree to sleep under.

A really relaxing stay, with clean water. The umbrellas were spaced generously, and there were also a few spots on the rocks by the sea. The water wasn’t as blue as it is on other parts of the coast south of Bari.

Bari is lovely, but Hotel Baia Sangiorgio was at the bottom of our list after stays all over Europe. The staff were unfriendly and hard to deal with. For €33 a night, the tent pitches were just dirt and stone, with no bushes or markers between them, and showers cost extra. The basic bathrooms were clean. The beach, though, was dirty, with very little shade or seating. I’d really suggest staying somewhere else. 👎
