There wasn’t even a table in the living room to have coffee at, so meals were limited to the bar, with its high, hard chairs. The apartment also looks much shabbier than the old photos suggest. The inside window latches are broken, and the air conditioner units can’t all run at once because the electricity is weak, or at least that’s what the owner says. There were plugs missing from the ducts, too.

The price was more or less fair, but the apartment feels quite run down, and its photos must be at least five years old. It’s on the ground floor, with extremely high ceilings. Only one room has a window, and it faces the street where car fumes smell awful, so the ventilation is basically nonexistent. Getting to central Bari or the train station takes at least 25-30 minutes. The electrical system is in poor shape as well. When we switched on all three air conditioners, the buttons fell off.
