Bed & Breakfast Barium

I’m leaving a one-star rating to alert people that this B&B has closed. I contacted the owner recently, and they told me the place was shutting down and asked me to post that information on Google for future guests.

I stayed one night at hotel barium. The apartment had a kitchen and bathroom and was fairly comfortable. The view was the only good thing about the place. The decor seems meant to look refined and exclusive, perhaps to justify the price, but I found it very tacky. It was all show and no substance: dusty surfaces, a stained coffee cup, dust bunnies on the floor, and no comb or terry slippers. Those would have been more useful than the contemporary-style plastic chair. My impression of the hospitality was awful. The agreement with the owner was that I’d leave at 10, but the doorbell rang at 9 and he told me to get out. He wanted me to check out an hour early because another guest was coming. I don’t consider that proper or welcoming. I’ve never known a hotel to require checkout that early. The place tries to seem high class but misses the basics of hospitality and good manners. The owner came across as full of himself and provincial, as if he’d never been outside Bari and had no idea what hospitality for tourists means. When I left in the morning, there was no reception where I could leave my luggage and keys. I called to ask what to do, but the owner, who was busy elsewhere, answered irritably, as though he’d taken payment and no longer cared about helping a guest. He’d only been open for a month, so I understand he may lack experience and needs time. Still, I’d advise him to be more courteous and attentive to guests instead of spending on furniture he considers sophisticated but that looks tacky and tasteless. Arrogance isn’t a good quality for someone offering accommodation. I strongly don’t recommend it.
