Domida Apartment

We had a great stay in this spacious apartment on the edge of Bari Vecchia. There’s lots of sunlight, direct and indirect, and three balconies. One is off the bathroom, while the other two are by the kitchen and living area. One of those has space to hang clothes and pegs. The owner was very friendly and answered all our questions. Everything was clean, and the kitchen had a gas oven and hob, microwave, sink with plenty of hot water, and a small fridge. We had ample cutlery, glasses and cooking utensils, plus tea, coffee and spices. There are plenty of Italian TV channels, and Netflix too if you sign in with your own account. The bed area is raised on a platform, which we liked, and the bed was comfortable with clean sheets. Having a washing machine in the bathroom was a bonus. The main drawback is the apartment’s on the second floor, with no lift, and the stairs are quite steep. We managed with just hand luggage, but I’d personally find it difficult with a large suitcase.

What made our stay especially lovely was Domenico. He was friendly and attentive, stayed available, and helped with every issue, including a booking payment problem, arranging an earlier and more convenient check-in, and calling a taxi. We felt as if we had a close friend in the city, and were glad to be his guests. The apartment is in the old town, among its distinctive streets, with a sea view from the window and the Basilica of Santa Nicola and other sights nearby. At night it was quiet even with the windows open. We were there in May, so didn’t need the air conditioning, and the air felt fresh. Sunset filled the room with a beautiful golden light. Everything was spotlessly clean. The kitchen had what we needed for home cooking, including two kinds of water in the fridge, tea, coffee, a kettle, stove, microwave, oven, utensils, salt, other seasonings, towels and household basics. There was clean bedding and a variety of towels, plus a handmade patchwork quilt we couldn’t stop looking at. The bathroom was clean and spacious, with a window. We’d gladly stay again if we return to Bari.

Domenico, the owner, was kind and helpful. The apartment is right in the center, very bright, and furnished with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The wooden furniture extends to the bathroom and kitchen, which had the dishes, glasses and cooking utensils we needed. Both the place and the owner deserve top marks.

A lovely apartment in a pleasant neighborhood, decorated in an Italian style. It has a real Southern feel to it.
