Hotel La Baia

The bathroom smell was the worst part of our stay. The room smelled like a drain, our child kept waking up and complaining about it, and the bathroom itself was awful. The rooms are old and less comfortable than they look in the pictures. The shower comes down from the ceiling, about 2.5 m above you, with weak pressure that made it hard to rinse off, especially when bathing our child. Everything got wet. The towels were like kitchen cloths and didn’t absorb anything. The staff were kind and ready to help, and the parking area out front is small, but we managed to find a spot each day. Wi-Fi worked well, though we had to log in again each time and the password lasted just one day. Our bed had a hard mattress, but it wobbled and creaked like a ship when we slept as a couple. The blackout blinds were a real plus, since they darkened the room completely. The location is convenient, near the sea and at the entrance to the city, so it’s easy to find. Breakfast was fine for a short stay, with lots of sweet options but only a few savory ones: hard-boiled eggs, cheese, ham, mini tomatoes, toast bread, a small loaf, and butter. The coffee and other hot drinks from the machine were excellent, but the tea choices were black, green, and a lemon one that was also green, leaving children and pregnant women with nothing hot besides hot chocolate. Around 8:30, the nice croissants were gone and weren’t replaced. The fruit was just a couple of battered apples, the bread was only white, and one morning we waited more than 20 minutes for more bread. The hotel badly needs renovation. The price was good, so most things could have been okay, but the horrible bathroom stench made it hard to overlook.
