Hotel Majesty

The room stayed quiet even though it faced the road. The hotel is right beside the S.S road, so it’s easy to find and convenient for getting around. I found the price nice, especially out of season. Breakfast was excellent, with lots of tasty options and some local dishes. I didn’t try the restaurant because it was closed. I noticed some conference rooms, but couldn’t find a way to walk to the shore.

Nicola at the front desk was cordial and really helpful, and Vito in the restaurant was helpful too. Breakfast was included and exceptional. The room was clean and comfortable, and the location was fine. We were very satisfied with the stay and recommend the hotel.

Breakfast was the low point, and it happened on both mornings. We sat down at 8 and found the buffet had been picked over by businessmen from the congress hall next door, leaving almost nothing for paying guests. Most tables were taken or messy, and what remained was food nobody else seemed to want, like sugary donuts and soft tomatoes. The instant coffee was so bad even a tasteless Italian would pass it up. The waiter spent an hour cleaning up before helping the hungry guests. We tried going at 7:30 the next day to avoid the crowds, but it was the same. The hotel feels like a former grand place for suit-wearing elites that’s now not even comfortable for an average tourist. The parking area is spacious, but the neighboring pool and congress hall use so many spots that guests may have to park on the busy road outside the grounds. Check-in took a long time because the equipment and office were outdated, with paper and Windows Vista, though the staff could all speak English. Our room was mediocre, bare, and straight out of the 80s, with no kettle or other equipment. The halls were dark and noisy. The shower was encrusted with limescale, damp, and smelly. There wasn’t really a blanket, just a cover, which made for a cold, restless night. The gym was large but dated, and the cleaning supplies for the equipment were well past their expiration date, probably left there during Covid. Over my two-week trip around Italy, this was easily the worst hotel. I wouldn’t recommend it for a relaxing vacation. Guests come second to the congressmen, and the room price makes you think twice. I would like to thank the friendly cleaning staff.

The food was great and we really enjoyed it. The coffee servers were perfect, and the smaller waiter knew how to look after people and did everything right. The large waiter, though, was cold with us. He didn’t speak English, which isn’t a problem, but there was no need to give us attitude about it. We were told the bar opened at 4:30, but it didn’t open until 4:45. When we went for another drink, the barman had disappeared; after waiting 10 minutes, we gave up. The reception also felt cold. At a four-star hotel, I expected someone to greet us at the door or offer to take our bags, but neither happened. The people at reception mostly kept their heads down and weren’t warm or friendly. We booked the sauna and steam room for 5 p.m., but when we called to check, they weren’t ready until 5:45. Charging 15 Euro per person for that is unacceptable. If they make that kind of mistake, they should apologize and make it right or not charge. There’s a huge pool we haven’t used yet, and the gym looks great, but we’re checking out.
